Background: Beta-thalassemias (BTs) are characterized by deficient or absent synthesis of the beta-globin subunit, leading to anemia. Patient characteristics and treatment patterns in these patients may vary.

Objective: This retrospective study evaluated demographics, clinical characteristics, and treatment patterns in patients with transfusion-dependent BT (TDT) and non-transfusion-dependent BT (NTDT).

IGBT Overcurrent Capabilities in Resonant Circuits.

The control of IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) and MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) is of great interest nowadays as they are widely used in electric vehicles, photovoltaic applications, and a multitude of systems. The field of power electronics and their correct activation ensures that the transistors are operated without being destroyed. In this work, a double resonant transformer was built and used to produce very high currents.

Background: Patients older than 65 years have unique needs and treatment outcomes goals. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of Geriatric Surgery Verification (GSV) initiative in oncology patients ≥65 years undergoing major abdominal surgeries.

Study Design: We implemented the American College of Surgeons' GSV program protocols for patients 65 and older starting in 2022.

On the Mexican trapdoor spiders: description of a new species of the spider genus Eucteniza Ausserer (Araneae, Mygalomorphae, Euctenizidae) from the western coast of Mexico.

The trapdoor spider genus Eucteniza Ausserer, 1875 is distributed in North America, with most diversity in Mexico. In this work, a new species is described from the Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere Reserve, Jalisco, Mexico: Eucteniza cuixmala sp. nov.
