Considering the four characteristics of strains, including acid production, acid tolerance, salt tolerance, and nitrite degradation rate, NCU006063 was selected as the fermentation agent, and the medium composition of NCU006063 was optimized using Plackett-Burman and central composite rotational design. Three of the seven factors studied in the Plackett-Burman design significantly affected the viable counts. A central composite rotational design was used to optimize the significant factors and generate response surface plots.

The nutritional characteristics of the tetrasaccharide stachyose prompted its incorporation into biosurfactants through esterification with fatty acid derivatives embodying 12-22 carbon chains. The resulting esters were evaluated for their surface active effects, emulsifying properties and capacities to form emulsions capable of the selective delivery of the anti-oxidant resveratrol. While such studies have revealed that those congeners embodying longer side-chains have higher critical micelle concentrations (CMC) and lower interfacial tensions, their hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) values fell within a tight range.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) primarily relies on the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) to eliminate tumor cells. However, the elevated levels of glutathione (GSH) within tumor cells can limit the efficacy of PDT, posing a challenge to achieve complete tumor eradication. Herein, a porous iron-based metal-organic frameworks (PEG-Fe-MOFs) nanoplatform was developed for the combined application of PDT and ferroptosis in cancer treatment.

Objective: To explore independent risk factors and to establish a predictive model for postoperative urinary retention (POUR) following transabdominal preperitoneal inguinal hernia repair (TAPP).

Methods: Between January 2017 and December 2023, 598 patients with inguinal hernia who underwent TAPP at the General Surgery Department of Zunyi Medical University Affiliated Liupanshui Hospital were enrolled in the study. Participants were randomly divided into training and validation sets (7:3 ratio).

Amorphous clusters are gaining prominence as prospective hosts for sodium-ion hybrid capacitors (SIHCs), but their efficacy is still affected by atomic coordination. Optimization of ion storage and charge transport can be achieved through high coordination and bimetallic configurations. Herein, high-coordination amorphous P-Nb-W-P (Nb/W-P) clusters are skillfully tailored by bridging Nb into the second shell of W in the W-P configuration, nested in situ in conductive and stable N, P co-doped carbon nanospheres (Nb/W-P@NPC).
