Article Synopsis
  • Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) is difficult to diagnose due to varied symptoms and lack of specific biomarkers, making timely diagnosis important due to its link to oral cancer.
  • The review highlights the role of exosomes—small extracellular vesicles that carry bioactive molecules—as potential diagnostic tools for OLP, as they may reflect the disease's pathological changes.
  • Understanding how exosomes contribute to the immune response in OLP can lead to new diagnostic and treatment methods, but challenges in exosome identification and clinical application need further research.

Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS) is a rare, invariably fatal childhood premature aging disorder caused by a pre-messenger RNA (mRNA) splicing defect in the LMNA gene. We used combined in vitro screening and in vivo validation to systematically explore the effects of target sequence, backbone chemistry and mechanism of action to identify optimized antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) for therapeutic use in HGPS. In a library of 198 ASOs, the most potent ASOs targeted the LMNA exon 12 junction and acted via non-RNase H-mediated mechanisms.

Purpose: Under-carboxylated osteocalcin (UcOC), a bone-released hormone is suggested to regulate energy metabolism. Pregnancy and lactation physiological conditions that require high levels of energy. The current study attempts to examine whether UcOC is involved in regulating energy metabolism during these conditions using adult Wistar rats.
