Objective: Antibody responses to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines are reduced among immunocompromised patients but are not well quantified among people with rare disease. We conducted an observational study to evaluate the antibody responses to the booster SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in people with rare autoimmune rheumatic diseases (RAIRD).
Methods: Blood samples were collected after second, before third, after third and after fourth vaccine doses.
Objectives: Coronavirus 2019 vaccine responses in rare autoimmune rheumatic diseases (RAIRDs) remain poorly understood; in particular there is little known about whether people develop effective T cell responses. We conducted an observational study to evaluate the short-term humoral and cell-mediated T cell response after the second severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccination in RAIRD patients compared with healthy controls (HCs).
Methods: Blood samples were collected after the second dose and anti-spike, anti-nucleocapsid antibody levels and SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell responses were measured and compared with those of HCs.
There is no optimal established therapy for treating advanced or recurrent adenocarcinoma with bronchioloalveolar carcinoma features (ADC-BAC), and it remains unclear whether chemotherapy achieves therapeutic results comparable to those seen in the more common non-small lung carcinoma subtypes. In order to improve the decisions made during the treatment of advanced ADC-BAC, we attempted to better characterize the mucinous and non-mucinous ADC-BAC subtypes. Fifty pathological samples were obtained from 62 patients included in a multicenter prospective phase II trial (IFCT0401) conducted to evaluate gefitinib as a first-line therapy for non-resectable ADC-BAC.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: Determine the feasibility of dynamic gadolinium enhanced MRI and spectroscopic imaging in routine clinical practice using standard equipment and its usefulness for patients with negative biopsies and high degree of suspicion of prostate cancer.
Patients And Methods: Fifty five patients underwent endorectal MRI using T2W spin echo (SE) imaging, dynamic gadolinium enhanced imaging and proton spectroscopic imaging before repeat US-guided transrectal biopsies. The statistical analysis consisted in the correlation of the results obtained with each of the two MRI techniques and the results of the biopsies in the corresponding prostate lobe.
Introduction: Pulmonary actinomycosis is an anaerobic bacterial infection occurring primarily in debilated patients with poor oral hygiene. Before the penicillin era, thoracic actinomycosis looked like tuberculosis or neoplasia with chest wall invasion and fistula formation.
Observation: We report the case of a 39 years old woman presenting with a chronic lung abscess of the left upper lobe hospitalised after several unsuccessful courses of antibiotics.
