Atomic layer deposition (ALD) of Li-containing thin films is deemed as highly relevant for the development of next-generation Li-ion batteries. Lithium hexamethyldisilazide (LiHMDS), as Li-containing precursor, is preferred over the widely used lithium -butoxide because of its lower melting point of 70 °C. However, the presence of silyl groups in the LiHMDS chemical structure can result in the undesired incorporation of Si in the film.

The objective of this study was to describe swine medicine training opportunities at North American and Caribbean veterinary education institutions. A 21-question survey was developed and distributed to veterinary colleges across North America and the Caribbean.

This study assessed and compared the performance of the African Diabetes Risk Score (ADRS) with three other diabetes risk prediction models for identifying screen-detected diabetes based on fasting plasma glucose (FPG) or glycated haemoglobin (HBA1c).
Methods: Age, sex, waist circumference, body mass index, blood pressure, history of diabetes and physical activity levels from the SA-NW-PURE study were used to externally validate the ADRS and other established risk prediction models.
Background: Case-control, intervention and laboratory studies have demonstrated a link between apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins and clot structure and thrombosis. There is, however, limited evidence on population level.
Objectives: We determined the cross-sectional relationship between lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and apolipoprotein B (ApoB) with fibrinogen and plasma clot properties in 1 462 Black South Africans, a population with higher fibrinogen and Lp(a) levels compared with individuals of European descent.
