Management of cervical neoplasia: a 13-year experience with cryotherapy and laser.

Objective: To evaluate whether cryotherapy is as effective as laser therapy in treating cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and to determine the optimal time for follow up.

Materials And Methods: Patients with biopsy-proven CIN were treated with cryotherapy or laser therapy. Specific data, including grade of CIN, rate of recurrence, and time to recurrence, were compared between the groups.

Neoadjuvant combined chemotherapy followed by external whole pelvic irradiation in two cases of primary extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the uterine cervix.

Background: Primary extranodal lymphomas of the genital tract are rare.

Cases: As there is no current consensus in its management, we present two further cases and their treatment with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, followed by radiation therapy. A radical hysterectomy with bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy was performed after primary treatment in one case.

[Expectant management of missed abortion].

A hundred cases of consecutive missed abortion under expectant management are analysed. The average age for these patients was 29.1, 81% were multiparous, and in 65% of the cases they were not using any contraceptives in the last year.

[Laparoscopy assisted vaginal hysterectomy at the Dr. Sótero del Río Hospital].

Twenty three cases of vaginal hysterectomy performed between june 1993 and june 1994 with the aid of laparoscopy were analyzed in Dr. Sótero del Río Hospital. Average ages, parity, date of previous surgeries and associated pathology do not differ from the general population of the patients of the hospital.
