Unconventional germination, wherein shoots emerge and establish true leaves before the root emerges, is only found in Zosteraceae. In , germination proceeds with the primary root emerging, followed by shoot emergence on the opposite side, but before leaf differentiation, adventitious roots emerge at the base of the shoots. However, germination and survival mechanisms in several species are still unclear.

Face editing represents a popular research topic within the computer vision and image processing communities. While significant progress has been made recently in this area, existing solutions: (i) are still largely focused on low-resolution images, (ii) often generate editing results with visual artefacts, or (iii) lack fine-grained control over the editing procedure and alter multiple (entangled) attributes simultaneously, when trying to generate the desired facial semantics. In this paper, we aim to address these issues through a novel editing approach, called MaskFaceGAN that focuses on local attribute editing.

In our laboratory, a series of TNF analogues with a charge modification in the tip region of the molecule was prepared, and cytotoxicity measured. Similar trends in cytotoxicity with increasing basicity of the TNF analogue were found in this study for two mouse cell lines, L929 and WEHI-164 clone 13-1, as well as for the human line KYM-1D4.

The first essential step in TNF signal transduction is believed to be clustering of the membrane bound receptors around the trimeric TNF molecule. To check if one receptor binding site would be enough to trigger the signal, we tried to prepare several types of TNF dimer. For this purpose, two TNF analogs bearing different cysteine mutations at the inner subunit binding surfaces were designed, expressed in E.
