Article Synopsis
  • Congenital primary obstructive megaureter (POM) is a condition caused by stenosis at the ureterovesical junction, and while ureteral re-implantation is the standard treatment, retrograde dilatation is gaining popularity as an alternative method.
  • A 5-month-old infant with POM and pyonephrosis was treated using endoscopic antegrade dilatation without the need for cystoscopy, following prior nephrostomy and antibiotic therapy.
  • The results showed successful reduction of ureterohydronephrosis, improved peristalsis, and no symptoms after 11 months of follow-up, indicating that antegrade dilatation can be an effective treatment option for selected patients.
