A novel case of glial transdifferentiation in renal medullary carcinoma brain metastasis.

Renal medullary carcinoma is a rare undifferentiated tumor of the kidney associated with sickle cell trait and characterized by INI1 (SMARCB1) loss. Although metastasis to lungs, lymph nodes, and bone is commonly reported, distant spread to the central nervous system almost never occurs. Here we present an unusual case of a patient with renal medullary carcinoma with metastasis to the brain following treatment which included tazemetostat, an EZH2 inhibitor.

Lipoproteins are essential for lipid transport in all bilaterians. A single Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) molecule is the inseparable structural scaffold of each ApoB-containing lipoprotein (B-lps), which are responsible for transporting lipids to peripheral tissues. The cellular mechanisms that regulate ApoB and B-lp production, secretion, transport, and degradation remain to be fully defined.

Introduction: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is characterized by diffuse lung injury. The impact of pre-existing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or emphysema on ARDS pathogenesis is not well characterized.

Methods: Secondary analysis of ARDS patients enrolled in the Acute Lung Injury Registry and Biospecimen Repository at the University of Pittsburgh between June 2012 and September 2021.

Histology-Specific Clinical Trial of Lenvatinib and Pembrolizumab in Patients with Sarcoma.

Purpose: Survival of patients with metastatic sarcoma remains poor, and there is a pressing need for new therapies. Most sarcoma subtypes are not responsive to immune checkpoint inhibition alone. Lenvatinib, a multireceptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting tumor vasculature, has an immunomodulatory activity that contributes to its antitumor effects.
