Purpose: To perform clinical and histomorphometric evaluations of the vagina before and after treatment for genitourinary syndrome of menopause with CO laser, fractional radiofrequency, and promestriene in breast cancer survivors using adjuvant endocrine therapy.

Methods: The study included women experiencing moderate to severe genitourinary syndrome of menopause. Following pre- and post-treatment protocols, participants graded their symptoms on a visual analog scale and underwent a gynecological examination to evaluate the Vaginal Health Index and obtain a vaginal biopsy.

Objectives: This article defines analytical performance specifications (APS) for evaluating laboratory proficiency through an external quality assessment scheme.

Methods: Standard deviations for proficiency assessment were derived from Thompson's characteristic function applied to robust data calculated from participants' submissions in the Occupational and Environmental Laboratory Medicine (OELM) external quality assurance scheme for trace elements in serum, whole blood and urine. Characteristic function was based on two parameters: (1) β - the average coefficient of variation (CV) at high sample concentrations; (2) α - the average standard deviation (SD) at low sample concentrations.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the efficacy of CO 2 laser, radiofrequency, and promestriene in treating genitourinary syndrome of menopause in women with breast cancer receiving adjuvant therapy and to analyze the clinical and histological findings of the vulvar vestibule.

Methods: Women with moderate-to-severe symptoms of vulvar atrophy were enrolled. The participants were evaluated according to pretreatment and posttreatment protocols using the visual analog scale and clinical assessments, which included a gynecological examination and vestibular biopsy.

We analyze the effect of small-amplitude noise and heterogeneity in a network of coupled excitable oscillators with strong timescale separation. Using mean-field analysis, we uncover the mechanism of a nontrivial effect-diversity-induced decoherence (DIDC)-in which heterogeneity modulates the mechanism of self-induced stochastic resonance to inhibit the coherence of oscillations. We argue that DIDC may offer one possible mechanism via which, in excitable neural systems, generic heterogeneity and background noise can synergistically prevent unwanted resonances that may be related to hyperkinetic movement disorders.

Objectives: In this pilot, prospective, randomized, double-blind study, the authors compared the efficacy of oxytocin with promestriene in improving vaginal atrophy of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM).

Methods: A total of 51 postmenopausal women with symptoms of GSM were evaluated. They were randomized into two groups: oxytocin (25 patients) and promestriene (26 patients) and were evaluated before and after 90 days of treatment; the evaluation was based on the domains of the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) (lubrication, satisfaction, and pain during sexual intercourse), clinical visual examination, and vaginal wall thickness.
