Cerebral amyloid angiopathy is characterised by the presence of protein deposits in the wall of the cerebral vessels. Sporadic forms with deposits of Abeta peptide are the most frequent. The diagnosis of cerebral amyloid angiopathy is only certain when amyloid deposits can be visualized on cerebral tissue by biopsy, that appears in most circumstances to carry too many risks for the expected benefits, or post mortem.

Objective: To determine whether multiple dosing of acetaminophen would result in drug accumulation in polymedicated elderly patients with rheumatic pain.

Methods: Twelve inpatients (11 women), aged 89 +/- 4 years, weight 59 +/- 10 kg, receiving 3 to 8 concomitant medications, entered the study. Their creatinine clearance according to the Cockroft-Gault formula was 42 +/- 12 ml/min.

Our one-year retrospective study evaluated drug use in a population of 136 patients over 60 years old hospitalized in a geriatric ward (moderate--and long-term institutionalization). Using anti-CD11a and anti-CD18 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) directed respectively against the alpha and the beta chains of LFA-1, we obtained an important and specific staining of P815 murine tumour cells. Both ascitic and cultured cells displayed a positive staining. Other murine tumours of haematopoietic origin, as well as lymphocytes or lymphoblasts from DBA/2 mice, were not labelled by the same monoclonal antibodies.
