BACKGROUNDSodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors slow down progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). We tested whether the circulating substrate mix is related to CKD progression and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and albuminuric CKD in the CREDENCE trial.METHODSWe measured fasting substrates in 2,543 plasma samples at baseline and 1 year after randomization to either 100 mg canagliflozin or placebo and used multivariate Cox models to explore their association with CKD progression, heart failure hospitalization/cardiovascular death (hHF/CVD), and mortality.

We examined the efficacy, feasibility and safety of eTRC in individuals with type 2 diabetes under free-living conditions.
Methods: In this randomised, parallel-arm, open label, controlled trial, participants with type 2 diabetes and overweight/obesity (age 67.
Background: Maxillofacial injuries are very frequent in the sports environment. Padel is a new sport of Mexican origin, very popular in Mexico, Spain, and Italy, but with a rapid spread in Europe and other continents.
Aims: The aim of this article is to report our experience of 16 patients with maxillofacial injuries that occurred during padel matches in 2021.
Context: One-hour postload hyperglycemia, defined as 1-hour plasma glucose (1hPG) ≥ 155 mg/dL during an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), has been proposed as an independent predictor of type 2 diabetes. Recent evidence suggests that 1-hour hyperglycemia can be explained by enhanced duodenal glucose absorption, which in turn may increase the rate of appearance of oral glucose in the systemic circulation (RaO). However, the impact of RaO on 1hPG and 1-hour glucose excursions (incremental area under the curve calculated through the first hour after glucose ingestion; glucose iAUC1h) is still unknown.
