Introduction: Primary site locoregional treatment (LRT) of metastatic breast cancer has been performed and evaluated with the aim to improve survival, prevent complications, and alleviate local symptoms. As some studies fail to show a survival benefit, the quality of life is important to consider when deciding on LRT. The aim of this study was to evaluate and quantify the impact of LRT on the quality of life of patients with de novo metastatic breast cancer (dnMBC) through a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analysis.

Here, we unveil a transition metal oxide interface, whose formation is driven by energetic influences─epitaxial tensile strain versus oxygen octahedra connectivity─that compete in determining the orientation of an orthorhombic perovskite film. We study this phenomenon in layers of LaVO grown on (101) DyScO, using atomic-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy to measure intrinsic markers of orthorhombic symmetry.

Using Uninhabited Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as a representative test case, we examined how team performance, workload and situation awareness were impacted by receiving raw, compared to processed, sensor data from one or two off-board UAVs. Sixteen teams of three participants were trained to compile a tactical picture and to complete missions.

The results presented show that this approach is a powerful tool for investigating cell metabolism in thin tissue sections. An adapted measurement routine was established for these samples by performing a spectral scan, identifying a combination of two excitation wavelengths and two detection ranges suitable for detailed scan images of NADH and FAD.

Evidence for cross-talk between these programs is emerging. Here, we show that cytotoxic stress channels polyunsaturated fatty acids via lysophospholipid acyltransferase 12 into phospholipids that become susceptible to peroxidation under additional redox stress.
