The basidiomycetes Ganoderma lucidum, Hericium erinaceus, Lentinus edodes and Trametes versicolor were used for preparation of aqueous extracts. A polysaccharide preparation (VPG) was isolated from the G. lucidum aqueous extracts.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe artificial polycarboxyacidic compounds (PC), imitating the principle of furan-derived and negatively charged structures alternating in the polymeric backbone of nucleic acids, previously explored as interferon inductors and stimulators of antiviral immunity in vivo, were modified by the side groups to amplify the direct antiviral potency in vitro and investigated in the cell culture model of human diploid fibroblasts infected with human cytomegalovirus (CMV) in a microbicidal scheme. Reconstruction from the PC to membrane potent compounds (MPC) was carried out by covalent modification with lipotropic pharmacophores (of cage-hydrocarbon structures similar to rimantadine or camphor-like terpenoids), as well as by conversion of the carboxy groups to sulfate-anionic derivates, related to the CMV sensitive heparansulfate receptor (HSR) of the cells. Both the factors of the MPC structure-functional modulation (lipotropic and anionic) were found to be effective tools for amplification of the microbicidal activity.

The analysis shows that literature does not contain clear criteria for patient selection and timing of surgery, and does not provide sufficient coverage of plastic surgical techniques. There are no data on the rate of complications and complex preventive measures.

The effects of interrupted synthesis of serotonin (5-HT) and immobilization stress applied to pregnant Wistar rats on behavioral measures of pain sensitivity in the formalin test were studied in their offspring at age 90 days. Prenatal 5-HT depletion decreased pain sensitivity in one third of rats and produced no significant change in the remainder. However, the latter showed a clear tendency to an increase in the interphase interval in females and a decrease in males.

The long-term effects of serotonin (5-HT) synthesis alteration and of restraint stress experienced by pregnant Wistar rats on pain sensitivity (evaluated by the indices of the biphasic behavioral response in the formalin test) were studied in their 90-day-old offspring. Prenatal 5-HT depletion decreased pain sensitivity in one third of the rats and failed to change it in the rest of the rast. In these later, however, an obvious tendency for an increase of interphase duration in females and its decrease in males were revealed that indicates changing of the activity of the descending serotoninergic system modulating nociceptive signals at the level of the spinal dorsal horns.
