The aim of research was monitoring of the main atmospheric air pollutants concentration on Adjara Autonomous Republic territory in order to determine their role in causing different diseases. The following atmospheric air pollutants have been determined in Batumi: dust, carbon monoxide, sulfur and nitrogen dioxide. The number of diseases registered in Adjara Autonomous Republic, which may be linked to the air pollution, has been studied.

The control group was composed of 20 healthy persons.

Patients with malignant blood diseases (with non-Hodgkin's, Hodgkin's lymphoma and chronic lymphatic leukaemia) and patients with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy were investigated. Patients were divided into 2 groups.

In these patients after revealing the diastolic dysfunction the heart diastolic failure is diagnosed, but in frequent cases this diagnosis is based on exclusion method. According to Framingham data the number of patients with clinically manifested diastolic dysfunction is high; it is age-dependent and reveals in women mostly; that means that the problem is social as well as medical one.

Monitoring of 99 patients had been performed: 49 with onco-hematological diseases and 50 with idiopathic dilatative cardiomyopathy. According to the total dose of doxorubicin the patients had been divided to three sub-groups: I subgroup -- 232.
