Introduction: Self-perception of body image has been scarcely evaluated in people with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), who, in addition to intellectual disability, are often obese. Therefore, we explored whether people with PWS can accurately identify their true image and how this self-perception is impacted by their neuropsychological profile.

Methodology: This observational study included patients with PWS with regular attendance to transdisciplinary treatment at a center specialized in the management of rare diseases.

Article Synopsis
  • Black adolescent males experience significant exposure to violence and loss, particularly through murder, affecting their mental health and social dynamics.
  • The study focused on understanding how these youths cope with the bereavement of friends or family members, highlighting that many had lost multiple loved ones to violence.
  • Four major themes emerged from their experiences: isolation as a form of self-preservation, the comfort found in sharing their stories of loss, mental escapism, and resilience leading to personal growth, suggesting the need for culturally relevant support interventions.

Introduction: Over the last decade of research, a notable connection between autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and unique motor system characteristics has been identified, which may influence social communication through distinct movement patterns. In this study, we investigated the potential for features of the broader autism phenotype to account for kinematic idiosyncrasies in social movements expressed by neurotypical individuals.

Methods: Fifty-eight participants provided recordings of point-light displays expressing three basic emotions and completed the Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ).

It has been suggested that aberrant excitation/inhibition (E/I) balance and dysfunctional structure and function of relevant brain networks may underlie the symptoms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, the nomological network linking these constructs to quantifiable measures and mechanistically relating these constructs to behavioral symptoms of ASD is lacking. Herein we describe a within-subject, controlled, proof-of-mechanism study investigating the pathophysiology of auditory/language processing in adolescents with ASD.

There has been a recent surge of interest in UTe due to its unconventional magnetic field ()-reinforced spin-triplet superconducting phases persisting at fields far above the simple Pauli limit for . Magnetic fields in excess of 35 T then induce a field-polarized magnetic state via a first-order-like phase transition. More controversially, for field orientations close to and above 40 T, electrical resistivity measurements suggest that a further superconducting state may exist.
