Long-term prognosis of patients with permanent cardiac pacemaker indication in three referral cardiac centers in Cameroon: Insights from the National pacemaker registry.

Background: There is evidence that cardiac pacemakers improve symptoms and quality of life in patients with severe bradycardia. Globally, the number of pacemaker implantations is on the rise. However, the associated high-cost limits pacemaker's accessibility in low resource settings.

Cardiac Pacing in Sub-Saharan Africa: JACC International.

Many parts of the developing world, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, completely lack access to cardiac pacing. The authors initiated a multinational program to implement cardiac pacing in 14 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (1996 to 2018), aiming to eventually build self-sustainable capacity in each country. This was based on an "on-site training" approach of performing procedures locally and educating local health care teams to work within resource-limited settings, with prospective evaluation of the program.

Objectives: High Blood Pressure (HBP) is a worldwide public health problem. It can be particularly severe in the Black race. Recent studies in Cameroon, showed an alarming prevalence, leading us to want to study the epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and evaluative aspects of severe, (BP op to 180/110mmHg), recently diagnosed HBP in Yaounde.

[A new look at adult chronic heart failure in Africa in the age of the Doppler echocardiography: experience of the medicine department at Yaounde General Hospital].

Objective: Heart failure is a frequent and severe condition in Africa, yet few African data are available that take into account modern advances like echocardiography in diagnosis. This study aimed to characterize the epidemiological, clinical, etiologic and therapeutic features of heart failure at Yaounde General Hospital.

Methods: A descriptive study was carried from October 1998 to November 2001.
