This study examined how teachers teaching chemistry at different levels of education perceive their levels of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) and examined the relationship of TPACK with age, gender, teaching at different levels of education, time spent teaching chemistry, and frequency of information and communication technology (ICT) use. The study involved 261 teachers, 246 women and 15 men, from all over Slovenia, who have been teaching chemistry for an average of 18 years at different levels of education, with an average age of 45 years. The results showed that teachers teaching chemistry content perceive a high level of TPACK.

Article Synopsis
  • * Results show that spray-dried powder had a higher yield and better moisture control, with significantly more β-glucan, total polyphenols, and total flavonoids compared to freeze-dried powder.
  • * Overall, the findings suggest that spray-drying with maltodextrin is a more effective method for preserving and enhancing the nutritional quality of β-glucan powder than freeze-drying.

Background: Several recent reports conclude that open-plan offices negatively impact workers across a variety of outcome measures. This contrasts to a corporate trend to move from cellular to open-plan layouts, often justified by the same outcomes. Two explanations for this paradox are proposed: (1) the results are more complicated than critical reports suggest, and (2) methodological biases make open-plan layouts look more negative than they are.

The neurokinin-1 receptor (NK1R) is a G-protein coupled receptor found in the central and peripheral nervous systems of vertebrates, and is responsible for many physiological processes. The C-terminus domain seems to be essential for coupling to the corresponding G-protein and β-arrestin, and is important for receptor desensitization, internalization and recycling. We have focused our study on expression of the human NK1R (hNK1R) C-terminus in Escherichia coli, and its purification and characterization, in order to elucidate its structural properties.

Prolapse of the lacrimal gland is an acquired clinical condition caused mainly by relaxation of the local suspending ligaments. Before an aesthetic blepharoplasty, there should be a preoperative clinical suspicion of lacrimal gland pathology for patients with bulging lateral thirds of the upper eyelids. It should be borne in mind that inadvertent removal of the lacrimal gland can lead to important alterations in ocular lubrication.
