This study aimed to investigate whether belt electrode skeletal muscle electrical stimulation (B-SES) would improve postoperative lower limb function and walking ability in patients with diabetes who have undergone minor amputations. Diabetic patients who had undergone minor amputations were assigned randomly to a B-SES or control group. The B-SES group underwent conventional physical therapy for 20 min and B-SES for 20 min.

The genes underlying BNP degradation by Sphingobium amiense DSM 16289 were analyzed by complete genome sequencing and compared with those of the versatile BNP-degrading Sphingobium cloacae JCM 10874. An opdA homolog (opdA) encoding BNP degradation activity was identified in DSM 16289, in contrast with JCM 10874, possessing both the opdA homolog and nmoA.

Radiography is used in medical practices based on the principles of justification and optimization. Patients' exposure doses should be kept as low as still allows for image quality that does not disturb the diagnostic processes. To optimize diagnostic radiological procedures, the international commission on radiological protection (ICRP) advocated the establishment of diagnosis reference levels (DRLs) in the new basic recommendation (Publication 103) in 2007 by stating that "The DRL should be expressed as a readily measurable patient-dose-related quantity for the specified procedure.
