Article Synopsis
  • Anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is a serious congenital heart defect, typically existing on its own and rarely linked to other heart issues.
  • The report discusses a successful surgical repair in an infant with a rare combination of ALCAPA, a ventricular septal defect (VSD), and a double aortic arch (DAA).
  • This case is notable as it is only the second documented instance of ALCAPA occurring alongside VSD and DAA in medical literature.

Objectives:  Repair of congenital heart defects involving right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) may require pulmonary valve replacement at time of primary repair or reoperation. This study compares the outcomes of cryopreserved homografts with bovine jugular vein conduits (BJVC) in children < 2 years of age with RVOT reconstruction.

Methods:  Retrospective, single-center review of 70 conduits implanted in 63 patients undergoing right ventricle-to-pulmonary artery reconstruction with valved conduit from 2002 to 2022.

Objectives: Surgical repair of complex congenital heart defects with hypoplasia or atresia of the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) may require pulmonary valve implantation or replacement during the primary repair or reoperation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of cryopreserved homografts, bovine jugular vein conduits and decellularized Matrix P Plus N conduits in patients undergoing RVOT reconstruction at a single centre.

Methods: Retrospective, single-centre review of 173 patients with 199 conduits undergoing right ventricle-to-pulmonary artery reconstruction with valved conduit from 2002 to 2022.

Background: Resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) is an alternative to fractional flow reserve (FFR) for the evaluation of borderline coronary artery lesions. Although FFR and RFR results are discordant in some cases, factors associated with the discordance remain unclear. The role of coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) is discussed as a potential mechanism to explain these discrepancies.

Objective: There are several choices for the correction of complex transposition of the great arteries and double outlet right ventricle not amenable to the Rastelli-type surgery, but outcome data are limited to small series. This study aims to report results after the aortic root translocation and en bloc rotation of the outflow tract procedures.

Methods: This is a retrospective, multicentric, observational study.
