Vocal cord nodules (VCNs) can be treated with a variety of therapeutic approaches, with controversy regarding the optimal management. This review provides an overview of the most commonly used management strategies and their outcomes to enhance decision making. We conducted a systematic literature search on PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus to include relevant original articles published in peer-reviewed journals from inception through April 2024.

Bone fracture ruptures blood vessels and disrupts the bone marrow, the site of new red blood cell production (erythropoiesis). Current dogma holds that bone fracture causes severe hypoxia at the fracture site, due to vascular rupture, and that this hypoxia must be overcome for regeneration. Here, we show that the early fracture site is not hypoxic, but instead exhibits high oxygen tension (> 55 mmHg, or 8%), similar to the red blood cell reservoir, the spleen.

The vacuolar ATPase (V-ATPase; V V ) is a multi-subunit rotary nanomotor proton pump that acidifies organelles in virtually all eukaryotic cells, and extracellular spaces in some specialized tissues of higher organisms. Evidence suggests that metastatic breast cancers mislocalize V-ATPase to the plasma membrane to promote cell survival and facilitate metastasis, making the V-ATPase a potential drug target. We have generated a library of camelid single-domain antibodies (Nanobodies; Nbs) against lipid-nanodisc reconstituted yeast V-ATPase V proton channel subcomplex.

The increasing demand for sustainable resources has revived the research on cellulose over the last decades. Therefore, the current research focused on the synthesis of biopolymers for the development of viable tableware utensils from cellulose of coconut coir. The synthesized biopolymer was characterized by using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), tensile strength, and contact angle.

Tolosa-Hunt Syndrome (THS) is an exceptionally rare disorder characterised by recurrent episodes of excruciating ophthalmoplegia, commonly affecting one side of the face and involving the third, fourth, sixth, and fifth cranial nerves. This syndrome results from non-specific inflammation affecting the cavernous sinus, superior orbital fissure (SOF), and/or orbital apex. In this case report, we present the clinical features, diagnostic evaluation, and management of a 46-year-old female with THS.
