Pulmonary mucormycosis (PM) is a rare and life-threatening condition, most prevalent in immunocompromised patients. Early signs and symptoms are often nonspecific. A high index of suspicion in at risk patients should prompt early infectious work-up, including bronchoscopy, followed by aggressive antifungal therapy and early surgical resection when indicated.

This case series describes the wide spectrum of clinical presentation, laboratory findings, and morbidity/mortality associated with dengue fever in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients, treated in a dengue endemic region. The risk of acquiring viral infections increases manifold after transplant due to the severely immunocompromised state amid conditioning toxicity and immunosuppressive therapy. The classical warning signs of dengue viremia are often masked in posttransplant patients, leading to a missed diagnosis of dengue and grave consequences observed in some of the patients.

Introduction: Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a frequent complication of cirrhosis, leading to preventable hospitalizations and increased mortality. Despite the availability of validated neuro-psychometric tests to diagnose HE, only 10% of clinicians regularly screen for HE due to lack of time, equipment, and trained personnel.

Materials And Methods: We studied the association between patient-reported cognitive function and the National Institutes of Health Toolbox Cognition Battery (a validated measure of HE) in patients with cirrhosis.

Background: Frailty is prevalent in patients with end-stage liver disease and predicts waitlist mortality, posttransplant mortality, and frequency of hospitalizations. The Liver Frailty Index (LFI) is a validated measure of frailty in liver transplant (LT) candidates but requires an in-person assessment.

Background: Nursing educators need to equip students to work in interprofessional teams and advocate for patients in increasingly integrated health and social care settings. Drama-based education has been used in nursing to help students understand complex concepts and practices, including communication, empathy, and patient safety. However, few studies have evaluated drama-based education to promote understanding of interprofessional care and advocacy, and none have involved student-led drama where students create dramatic performances to support learning.
