Despite the crucial role of synaptic connections and neural activity in the development and organization of cortical circuits, the mechanisms underlying the formation of functional synaptic connections in the developing human cerebral cortex remain unclear. We investigated the development of α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor (AMPAR)-mediated synaptic transmission using human cortical organoids (hCOs) derived from induced pluripotent stem cells. Two-photon Ca⁺ imaging revealed an increase in the frequency and amplitude of spontaneous activity in hCOs on day 80 compared to day 50.

Initial diagnostics suspected multiple myeloma. A plane computed tomography (CT) scan showed pneumonia and the enlargement of generalized lymph nodes.

CT images obtained within 30 days before diagnostic confirmation were reviewed for 20 patients with iMCD (8 men and 12 women, mean age 52.8 ± 12.

We recently identified mouse Tmem63b as a membrane structure-responsive scramblase. Tmem63b belongs to the TMEM63/OSCA family of ion channels; however, the conservation of the scramblase activity within this family remains unclear.

Interest in ultraviolet (UV) light devices for disinfection has increased due to pandemic concerns, but their efficacy in denture disinfection is underexplored. This study evaluated seven-enclosed type portable UV irradiation devices (devices A-G). Among these, devices A, B, and C used bulb light sources, while devices D, E, F, and G utilized LED (light-emitting diode) light sources.
