The alveolar NO concentration (Calv) in interstitial pneumonia is reported to be increased. However, it remains unknown whether NO production is increased and nitrosative stress occurs in eosinophilic pneumonia (EP).

The use of a vaginal speculum to prevent bacterial infection when passing an embryo transfer gun through the vagina yielded a pregnancy rate equal to or higher than that with application of a sheath cover to the transfer gun. Administration of a sedative, xylazine, to recipient cattle for preventing movement at the time of embryo transfer improved the pregnancy rate.

Inhibition of human pepsin and gastricsin by alpha2-macroglobulin.

The inhibitory effects of human alpha2-macroglobulin (alpha2-M), a major plasma proteinase inhibitor, on human pepsin and gastricsin were investigated. The activities of pepsin and gastricsin towards a protein substrate (reduced and carboxymethylated ribonuclease A) were significantly inhibited by alpha2-M at pH 5.5, whereas those towards a peptide substrate (oxidized insulin B-chain) were scarcely inhibited.
