: Barrett's esophagus (BE), with metaplastic columnar epithelium in the lower esophagus, predisposes patients to esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). Despite extensive research, mechanisms underlying BE progression to EAC remain unclear, and no validated biomarkers are available for clinical use. Progastricsin/Pepsinogen-C (PGC), an aspartic proteinase linked to maintaining normal epithelial morphology, is often absent in advanced gastrointestinal malignancies.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and its incidence and prevalence are increasing in many countries. Modeling of CVD plays a crucial role in understanding the trend of CVD death cases, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and predicting future disease trends. This study aims to investigate the modeling and forecasting of CVD mortality, specifically in the Sindh province of Pakistan.

Introduction: This narrative review aims to identify and explore the social determinants that prevent people living with HIV (PWH) from accessing specialized cancer centers in the United States and compare to patient experiences in other countries.

Methods: The review includes randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, qualitative studies, case series, and non-peer reviewed articles. The risk of bias was assessed using standardized tools, and data were synthesized narratively due to the heterogeneity of study designs and outcomes.

The interaction of drugs with DNA is crucial for understanding their mechanism of action, particularly in the context of gene expression regulation. Erdafitinib (EDB), a pan-FGFR (fibroblast growth factor receptor) inhibitor approved by the FDA, is a potent anticancer agent used primarily in the treatment of urothelial carcinoma. In this study, the binding interaction between EDB and calf thymus DNA (ctDNA) was assessed using molecular docking, UV-absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy.

Hyperglycemia is associated with increased in-hospital morbidity and mortality, especially in critically ill intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Propofol, a common anesthetic used in the ICU, may cause hyperglycemia by inducing insulin resistance, reducing insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in muscles, and attenuating insulin-mediated suppression of hepatic glucose. We present the case of a 58-year-old female who was admitted for sepsis secondary to cellulitis but required intubation for respiratory failure.
