Purpose: To examine the anatomy of the orbital septum posterior to the medial canthal tendon area.
Materials And Methods: We performed 3 anatomical dissections in the present study. The first one was a microscopic study in which exenterated specimens from 6 Japanese cadavers (age from 77 to 93 years at death) were cut inferno-horizontally, including the Müller muscle, medial rectus pulley, and lateral rectus pulley, and stained with Masson's trichrome.
Background: Recently, the number of patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and its more advanced condition, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), has been increasing. These patients are at a higher risk of cardiovascular events and thromboembolism. However, the direct impact of high-fat diet (HFD), a cause of MASLD, on liver coagulation function is not well understood.

Three-dimensional cell culture creates an environment that allows cells to grow and interact with the surrounding extracellular framework. Versican plays a pivotal role in forming the provisional matrix, but it is still unclear how this proteoglycan affects the formation of the extracellular matrix. Here, we established a three-dimensional culture system using fibrin gel, which enables a long-term culture up to a month.

However, the pharmacological profiles of opioids regarding social behavior and their therapeutic potential remain unclear. Multiple pharmacological, behavioral, and immunohistological c-Fos mapping approaches were used to characterize the effects of μ-opioid receptor agonists on social behavior and investigate the mechanisms in naive mice and autism spectrum disorder-like (ASD-like) mouse models, such as prenatally valproic acid-treated mice and Fmr1-KO mice.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTumor hypoxia represents a major challenge to achieving successful therapy outcomes with photodynamic therapy (PDT). We hypothesized that systemic loading of dual porphyrins, protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) as a photosensitizer (PS) and hemin (Fe-PPIX) as an oxygen generator, onto Eu-doped NaYF scintillator (Sc), collectively terms as Eu-PPIX@Hemin, could enhance the activity of X-ray mediated PDT. Catalase-like property of hemin in the presence of HO facilitated the production of oxygen molecules (O) in hypoxic cancer cells.
