Enteral administration of alectinib for ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer in an elderly patient: A case report.

Rationale: Alectinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) approved for use as first-line metastatic therapy for patients with anaplastic lymphoma kinase-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer. Certain medical conditions related to the tumor lesions may not allow oral administration of TKIs.

Patient Concerns: We hereby report the case of a 90-year-old patient with anaplasic lymphoma kinase-rearranged lung cancer with severely impaired general condition and swallowing disorders.

Circulating tumor cell count and thrombosis in metastatic breast cancer.

Unlabelled: Essentials Tumor cells circulating in blood (CTC) may favor thrombotic events in cancer patients. We assessed the impact of CTC on the risk of thrombosis in metastatic breast cancer. Baseline CTC detection was the only independent factor associated with the risk of thrombosis.

Survival of breast cancer patients with meningeal carcinomatosis treated by intrathecal thiotepa.

Treatment of breast cancer meningeal carcinomatosis (MC) relies on intrathecal chemotherapy. Thiotepa is one of the few drugs approved in this setting, although no large cohort has been reported. The aim of our retrospective study is to describe survival and prognostic factors of breast cancer patients treated by intrathecal thiotepa.

[Survival of breast cancers patients with meningeal carcinoma].

Purpose: Among all solid tumors breast cancer is the most common cause of meningeal carcinomatosis (MC). The purpose of this study was to analyze clinical and biological responses as well as overall survival in MC patients (pts) of breast primary treated with intrathecal methotrexate (MTX).

Methods And Materials: Single-center retrospective series of MC pts treated between 2000 and 2007.

Platinum-based chemotherapy in metastatic triple-negative breast cancer: the Institut Curie experience.

Background: Although recent experimental data strongly suggest that platinum-based chemotherapy (PBCT) could improve the outcome of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), clinical data are lacking. Here, the authors reviewed clinical outcome in patients with metastatic TNBC treated with PBCT.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of all patients (N=143) treated for metastatic breast cancer with PBCT between 2000 and 2008, at Institut Curie, Paris, France.
