Garcinia smeathmannii is a well-known plant for its uses in the effective treatment of intestinal parasites, skin eruptions and skin burns. The dichloromethane-methanol (2:3) crude extract of the leaves of G. smeathmannii led to the isolation and characterization of twenty compounds (1-20) using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques.

TAPP versus lichtenstein techniques for bilateral inguinal hernia repair: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Inguinal hernia repair is one of the most common surgical procedures performed worldwide. However, very few studies report data on the laparoscopic advantages of bilateral inguinal hernia (BIH) repair over the open approach. Therefore, this meta-analysis was conducted to compare the effectiveness of the laparoscopic trans-abdominal pre-peritoneal (TAPP) technique with the open Lichtenstein repair technique (OLR) for the repair of BIH.

The SAInT study: a protocol for a randomized controlled trial of steroid injection for subacromial pain syndrome using the anterolateral versus posterior approach.

Aims: Steroid injections are used for subacromial pain syndrome and can be administered via the anterolateral or posterior approach to the subacromial space. It is not currently known which approach is superior in terms of improving clinical symptoms and function. This is the protocol for a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to compare the clinical effectiveness of a steroid injection given via the anterolateral or the posterior approach to the subacromial space.

The Diagnostic Pathway of Hirschsprung's Disease in Paediatric Patients: A Single-Centre Experience.

Background: The presenting symptoms of patients with Hirschsprung's disease (HD) are a failure to pass meconium, abdominal distension, and bilious vomiting. The gold standard diagnosis is a rectal biopsy to confirm aganglionosis. The aim of our study was to describe the diagnostic pathway of Hirschsprung's disease at our institution and document the indication for a rectal biopsy.
