Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the antioxidant effects of thymoquinone, silymarin, and curcumin on ischemia-reperfusion injury in aortic surgery using Wistar albino rats.
  • The experiment involved a control group and treatment groups receiving the antioxidants before a simulated injury, measuring oxidative stress levels in their blood and tissue.
  • Results showed that silymarin and thymoquinone significantly reduced oxidative stress compared to controls, while curcumin was less effective.

Alkali-activated slag is considered as a sustainable construction material due to its environmentally friendly nature. To further promote the sustainable nature of alkali-activated slag, a sodium sulfate activator is suggested to be used since it can be obtained naturally and generates lower greenhouse gas emissions. However, the mixtures activated by sodium sulfate exhibit low early strength and very long setting times.

Understanding the influence of magnetic fields on the rheological behavior of flowing cement paste is of great importance to achieve active rheology control during concrete pumping. In this study, the rheological properties of cementitious paste with water-to-cement (w/c) ratio of 0.4 and nano-FeO content of 3% are first measured under magnetic field.

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a clinical syndrome characterized by acute respiratory distress following blood transfusion. This case-based technical report documents a case on the management of a multi-level forearm microsurgical reconstruction and the following TRALI syndrome that developed shortly after blood transfusion in a 29-year-old male. Multilevel microsurgical revascularization was performed via saphenous vein autograft arterial reconstruction from the proximal 1/3 ulnar artery to the ulnar side of the deep superficial palmar arterial arch.
