Glucocorticoid tapering pace in microscopic polyangiitis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis in Japanese real-world practice: A propensity score-matched retrospective cohort study from the J-CANVAS registry.

Objective: To assess the prevalence and outcomes among regimens of glucocorticoid tapering for microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) in real-world practice.

Methods: We retrospectively examined the Japan Collaborative Registry of ANCA-associated Vasculitis (J-CANVAS) registry, and evaluated the prevalence of glucocorticoid tapering regimens in the PEXIVAS trial. In patients with newly diagnosed MPA and GPA, we compared outcomes among standard and reduced pace regimens.

Royal jelly (RJ), a natural product secreted by honeybees, is widely used in topical skincare products to help maintain cutaneous homeostasis. Despite its popularity, the mechanism through which RJ exerts its effects on the skin has not been fully elucidated. This study aimed to explore the impact of RJ on the proliferative ability and senescence of human primary epidermal keratinocytes (HPEKs).

Efficacy of extracting and preventively intervening late-stage older adults who are at high risk for spending high medical costs by using the health check-up system in Japan: a pilot study.

Objectives: In Japan, the seven diseases (femur fracture, cerebral infarction, chronic renal failure, heart failure, dementia, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) are the top causes of inpatient medical costs among the late-stage older adults aged 75 years and over. This pilot study was conducted with the following two objectives; (1) to examine the proportion of risks of onset and severity of seven diseases among the late-stage older adults, and (2) to examine the efficacy of interventions focusing on the prevention of unplanned hospitalization.

Methods: Participants were 45,233 older adults aged 75 and over living in Kure City, Japan.

Clinical profile of IgG4-related disease in Japan based on the rare disease data registry.

We started a registry for cases of immunoglobulin (Ig)G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) in December 2019 to clarify the clinical profile of IgG4-RD. In this study, clinical information from 854 cases registered by February 16, 2024 was analyzed from multiple perspectives. Diagnosis of IgG4-RD was made in 808 cases, comprising 638 definite, 38 probable, and 132 possible.

Factors Influencing Self-Management Behaviors Among Patients with Post-Kidney Transplantation: A Qualitative Study of the Chronic Phase Transition.

Background: Kidney transplantation is an effective treatment for patients with kidney failure. Despite the advances in technology, a certain number of patients still deteriorate due to improper management. The purpose of this study was to identify the promoting and inhibitory factors that influence recipients' self-management behaviors after a kidney transplant.
