A Perspective on Frailty and its Predisposing Factors among People Living with HIV.

People Living with HIV (PLHIV) experience accelerated aging, yet strategies for healthy aging in this group are not well studied. Although survival rates have improved, non-infectious comorbidities, like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancers, are increasing and tend to appear earlier and more severely in PLHIV frailty, defined as increased vulnerability to stressors, which is a growing concern among aging PLHIV, driven by factors, like chronic inflammation, antiretroviral therapy toxicity, and traditional risk factors. Key areas of focus include inactivity, sarcopenia, vitamin D deficiency, and polypharmacy.

Fear of illness in Kafka's Metamorphosis.

This year marks 100 years since the death of Franz Kafka. Often in general medicine, and internal medicine in particular, doctors face situations in which they position themselves as the only guarantor of the patient in relation to society and how it conceives the disease. Many times, patients come to us without a diagnosis or with the fear of it; sometimes also rejected by their environment.

Sleep quality and sleep deprivation: relationship with academic performance in university students during examination period.

The beginning of the university brings together maturational, psychosocial and academic changes that make university students more prone to suffer from insufficient or poor quality sleep, which can negatively influence their academic performance. The period of taking exams is a key part of the academic year. However, there are few studies that analyze sleep during this period of time.

Zinner's Syndrome and Retroperitoneal Fibrosis: An Unknown Association.

Unlabelled: We report the case of a 24-year-old male presenting with obstructive renal failure, characterised by imaging evidence of a cystic lesion contingent upon the seminal vesicle and concurrent renal agenesis. Initial management involved urinary diversion, followed by outpatient monitoring and subsequent recurrence. Subsequent diagnostic assessments led to the identification of Zinner's syndrome, accompanied by retroperitoneal fibrosis.
