The hydrophobic nature of Poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) is a significant barrier to use in ultrafiltration, resulting in fouling, flux decline, and reduced lifespan in water treatment. This study examines the effectiveness of different morphologies of CuO nanomaterials (NMs) (spherical, rod, plate, and flower), synthesized by the facile hydrothermal method, to modify PVDF membrane with PVP additive for improving the performance of water permeability and antifouling. Such membrane configurations with different morphologies of CuO NMs improved hydrophilicity with a maximum water flux of 222-263 L mh compared to 195 L mh for the bare membrane and exhibited excellent thermal and mechanical strengths.

Continuous monitoring of water quality in dam reservoirs is a typically difficult and costly operation. In this study, the results of computer modeling with the CE-QUAL-W2 model were combined with data mining techniques to develop a new method called "delta-normal stress" for identifying the critical temporal and spatial monitoring ranges. For this purpose, long-term variations of three quality parameters including nitrite-nitrate level, dissolved oxygen (DO) level, and water temperature near the outlet of the dam, which is the point of interest for reservoir exploitation, were analyzed.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a rapid-developing desalination technology; however, it suffers from inefficient energy consumption. To reduce energy consumption, in this study, reverse osmosis thin-film composite membrane (TFC) module was prepared and composed of m-phenylenediamine (MPD), graphene oxide, and 1,3,5-benzenetricarbonyl chloride (TMC) by interfacial polymerization on the surface of a polysulfone substrate. The graphene oxide was embedded in the mentioned thin-film composite by adding it to MPD aqueous solution to enhance permeation flux and, thus, reduce energy consumption.

A collaborative multidisciplinary study was conducted to assess both physical and psychosocial needs of 117 adults with various types of cancers. Although these patients functioned adequately in many areas of their lives, they reported that cancer and its treatment had an impact on energy, physical and recreational activities, communication with spouse, sexual and emotional functioning, occupational matters, and treatment-related situations. Younger patients reported more psychosocial, sexual, and treatment-related problems than did older patients.
