The purpose of this study is to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of a new noninvasive imaging technique, ultrasound-guided attenuation parameter (UGAP), in diagnosing hepatic steatosis. This single-center retrospective study included 81 UGAP studies performed to guide therapy between July 2022 and June 2023 at a large academic medical center. Patients with either liver biopsy or Magnetic resonance-based proton-density fat fraction (MRI-PDFF) within 12 months of US-UGAP imaging, irrespective of order, were included.

Cardiac metastases are a rare site for metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We describe an atypical presentation of an isolated right ventricular metastasis of HCC following successful treatment with no evidence of primary disease recurrence. The case presented as gradually worsening hypertension and erythrocytosis in the setting of normal surveillance scans and alpha-fetoprotein levels.

Recent studies have demonstrated that one can control the packing density, and in turn the filterability, of protein precipitates by changing the pH and buffer composition of the precipitating solution to increase the structure/order within the precipitate. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of sodium malonate, which is known to enhance protein crystallizability, on the morphology of immunoglobulin precipitates formed using a combination of ZnCl and polyethylene glycol. The addition of sodium malonate significantly stabilized the precipitate particles as shown by an increase in melting temperature, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry, and an increase in the enthalpy of interaction, as determined by isothermal titration calorimetry.

Liver congestion is increasingly encountered in clinical practice and presents diagnostic pitfalls of which radiologists must be aware. The complex altered hemodynamics associated with liver congestion leads to diffuse parenchymal changes and the development of benign and malignant nodules. Distinguishing commonly encountered benign hypervascular lesions, such as focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH)-like nodules, from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can be challenging due to overlapping imaging features.
