Background: Hospital-acquired bloodstream infections (BSI) are associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. This study was conducted to describe the outcomes and the prognosis of hospital-acquired BSI in the Critical Care Unit, Hospital Pakar Universiti Sains Malaysia (HPUSM), as well as to identify associated factors of treatment failure and mortality at 28 days.
Methods: This prospective cohort study was conducted in the Critical Care Unit of HPUSM from September 2019 to March 2021.
Dengue virus (DENV), a common and prevalent mosquito-borne endemic disease, is caused by four serotypes (DENV-1-4) and has spread rapidly on a global scale over the past decade. A crucial step in the development of antiviral therapeutics requires the utilization of in vitro cell-based techniques, such as plaque assays and focus-forming assays (FFA) for virus quantification. Vero cells have been widely used for FFA and plaque assay; however, there are instances when their efficacy and efficiency in the detection of certain clinical DENV isolates are low.

Materials And Methods: Thirty adult participants presented with an endodontically treated tooth and its vital contralateral counterpart were recruited, with 15 males and females in each group. Maximum occlusal forces were measured using a wireless sensor network occlusal force recorder, and the mean maximum occlusal force of endodontically treated teeth was compared with that of their vital contralateral counterparts.
Mechanomyography (MMG) may be used to quantify very small motor responses resulting from muscle activation, voluntary or involuntary. The purpose of this study was to investigate the MMG mean peak amplitude (MPA) and area under the curve (AUC) and the corresponding mechanical responses following delivery of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to the knee extensors. Fourteen adults (23 ± 1 years) received single TMS pulses at intensities from 30-80 % maximum stimulator output to elicit muscle responses in the relaxed knee extensors while seated.

Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to analyse surveillance data from 2015 to 2023 to examine the epidemiological characteristics of rabies in Malaysia. Data from multiple sources were used, and descriptive statistics, incidence rates, and reproductive numbers were calculated.
