In 36 patients with different haematological diseases the authors examined by immunoscintigraphy the bone marrow using the 99mTc preparation Scintimun Granulozyt of Behring Co. They studied the distribution of haematopoietic tissue order to detect deviations from normal, focal defects, elongation of haematopoiesis into the periphery of long bones or extramedullary haematopoiesis. Distribution of haematopoietic tissue was evaluated visually and semiquantitatively.

We have investigated a female patient with autoerythrocyte sensitization syndrome (AES syndrome), having a positive skin response to her own red blood cells (RBC) and to phosphatidylserine (PS). Using 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS), bee venom phospholipase A2 and merocyanine 540 binding, we have demonstrated that in RBC of patient more than 50% of PS is redistributed into the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane. Using homologous RBC from a healthy donor we were able to induce transbilayer PS redistribution by incubation with the patient plasma.

The effect of high doses of ascorbic acid (AA) (200 mg/kg body weight, s. c.) on the values of some biochemical parameters has been studied in guinea pigs (glucose, lactic acid, SH substances and GSH in blood, proteins and urea, and the LDH, MDH, ASAT, ALAT, and gamma-GT activities in the serum, the acid phosphatase activity in the liver, the gamma-GT activities in the liver and the kidney, and on the levels of SH substances and GSH in various organs).
