Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) is a crucial tool for assessing cardiac morphology and function quickly and non-invasively without ionising radiation. However, the examination is subject to intra- and inter-user variability and recordings are often limited to 2D imaging and assessments of end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes. We have developed a novel, fully automated machine learning-based framework to generate a personalised 4D (3D plus time) model of the left ventricular (LV) blood pool with high temporal resolution.

Vaccines are the most effective tool against COVID-19 and are generally safe. Very rare and heterogeneous cases of acute liver injury associated to all types of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines have been reported, mostly with autoimmune features. Epidemiological studies used heterogeneous diagnostic criteria and included different populations.

Several studies have shown the importance of using seaweed liquid extract (True-Algae-Max, TAM) as a fish feed additive, and fish-water conditioner. In addition, TAM has demonstrated significant growth improvement when used as a plant growth biostimulant. This study investigates whether seaweed liquid extract (TAM) can achieve good results in new experimental fields such as chromium remediation, plant germination, and live feed supplementation for marine invertebrate Copepod (Oithona nana).

Article Synopsis
  • Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a rare and aggressive brain tumor in children linked to specific genetic alterations, particularly in the SWI/SNF complex.
  • The study analyzed 44 AT/RT samples from 40 patients and found that most tumors were negative for brachyury expression, with only two positive cases seen in very young children with clivus involvement.
  • The findings suggest that brachyury expression might help differentiate poorly differentiated chordoma from AT/RT, especially when considering tumor morphology and DNA methylation patterns.

Somatic variant testing through next-generation sequencing (NGS) is well integrated into Swiss molecular pathology laboratories and has become a standard diagnostic method for numerous indications in cancer patient care. Currently, there is a wide variation in reporting practices within our country, and as patients move between different hospitals, it is increasingly necessary to standardize NGS reports to ease their reinterpretation. Additionally, as many different stakeholders-oncologists, hematologists, geneticists, pathologists, and patients-have access to the NGS report, it needs to contain comprehensive and detailed information in order to answer the questions of experts and avoid misinterpretation by non-experts.
