Surgical techniques for cardiac allograft procurement and perfusion in controlled donation after circulatory death.

In the last decade, heart transplants using allografts from adult donors after circulatory death, in a controlled setting, controlled donation after circulatory death (cDCD) have been rapidly adopted and widely performed. The selection of retrieval methods has largely been determined by state or institutional guidelines concerning permissible postmortem procedures. A significant majority of cDCD heart recoveries have employed direct procurement and perfusion (DPP) followed by normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) for graft preservation.

[Effect of previous exposure to COVID-19, occurrence of spikes, and type of vaccine on the humoral immune response of institutionalized older adults].

This study evaluated the explanatory factors of humoral immune response in older adults admitted to long-term care institutions in Buenos Aires, Argentina, up to 180 days after vaccination. An open-label, prospective, multicenter cohort study was conducted with volunteers who received two doses of the Sputnik V, Sinopharm, or AZD1222 vaccines. Plasma samples were analyzed at 0 and 21 days after the first dose, 21 days after the second dose, and 120 and 180 days after the first dose.

Orthostatic Lung Perfusion (EVLP): A Proof of Concept.

The key goal in lung donation remains the improvement of graft preservation with the ultimate objective of increasing the number and quality of lung transplants (LTx). Therefore, in recent years the field of graft preservation focused on improving outcomes related to solid organ regeneration and restoration. In this contest Ex-Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) plays a crucial role with the purpose to increase the donor pool availability transforming marginal and/or declined donor lungs suitable for transplantation.
