Urban adaptation to climate change is a global challenge requiring a broad response that can be informed by how urban societies in the past responded to environmental shocks. Yet, interdisciplinary efforts to leverage insights from the urban past have been stymied by disciplinary silos and entrenched misconceptions regarding the nature and diversity of premodern human settlements and institutions, especially in the case of prehispanic Mesoamerica. Long recognized as a distinct cultural region, prehispanic Mesoamerica was the setting for one of the world's original urbanization episodes despite the impediments to communication and resource extraction due to the lack of beasts of burden and wheeled transport, and the limited and relatively late use of metal implements.

Treatment with Antiobesity Drugs in Weight Regain After Bariatric Surgery: a Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background: Bariatric surgery is the most efficient treatment for obesity. However, in some cases, weight regain can occur. Currently, it is unknown the best antiobesity medication (AOM) for such clinical situation.

Cryptococcal meningoencephalitis: Risk factors associated to death in a hospital in Northeastern Brazil.

Introduction: Cryptococcosis is an opportunistic systemic mycosis caused by pathogenic encapsulated yeasts of the genus Cryptococcus. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the risk factors associated with death of patients diagnosed with meningitis due to Cryptococcus spp.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients admitted to the São José Hospital (SJH) with Cryptococcal Meningoencephalitis (CM) who were diagnosed between 2010 and 2018.

Adverse childhood experiences are associated with increased overdose risk in predominately Latinx adults seeking treatment for substance use disorders.

Introduction: Almost no previous studies explored the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and overdose risk for individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs), and these did not focus on a Latinx population. This study examined the relationship between ACEs, reporting PTSD symptoms, and lifetime experience of overdose in a sample ( = 149) of primarily Latinx adults seeking treatment for substance use disorder (SUD).

Materials And Methods: Administrative data from an integrated behavioral health and primary care treatment system in Massachusetts were analyzed through bivariate analyses and multiple logistic regression.
