In Tanzania, limited laboratory services often preclude routine identification of microorganisms that cause infections in persons with diabetes. Thus, we carried out this study to determine the utility of a Gram stain alone versus culture in guiding appropriate antimicrobial therapy. During February 2006 to December 2007 (study period), deep tissue biopsies were obtained from persons with diabetes presenting to the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) with infected limb ulcers.

Design: A multicentre, randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled study.
Insulin and growth hormone (GH) induce mitogenic and metabolic signals in cells, GH either directly or indirectly via IGF-I production. We have studied a spontaneous murine T-cell lymphoma (LB cells) devoid of IGF-1 receptors in which proliferation is maintained by insulin [Int. J.

In vitro studies in human liver microsomes have indicated that NN703 is a mechanism-based inhibitor of CYP3A4. The aim of the present study was to investigate in man the effects of NN703 on the pharmacokinetics of midazolam, a substrate of CYP3A4.

This was a randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled study with four active dose levels: 1.71, 3.
