Encapsulating peptide-stabilized gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) with thiolated hyaluronic acid (HA-SH) and selectively adding cysteine to the peptide sequence increased their photoluminescence. We found that peptide compositions with cysteine in the middle emitted the most. RCR-stabilized AuNCs can be purified using size-exclusion chromatography to characterize their optical characteristics, chemical composition, and possible structure.

Myocardial infarction and reperfusion constitute a complex injury consisting of many distinct molecular stress patterns that influence cardiomyocyte survival and adaptation. Cell signalling, which is essential to cardiac development, also presents potential disease-modifying opportunities to recover and limit myocardial injury or maladaptive remodelling. The investigation of impact of through-space/through-bond electronic interaction among chromophores on photoexcited-state properties has immense potential owing to the distinct emergent photophysical pathways. Herein, the photoexcited-state dynamics of homo-sorted π-stacked aggregates of a naphthalenemonoimide and perylene-based acceptor-donor (NI-Pe) system and a fork-shaped acceptor-bisdonor (NI-Pe) system possessing integrally stacked peri-substituted donors was examined. Femtosecond transient absorption (fsTA) spectra of NI-Pe monomer recorded in chloroform displayed spectroscopic signatures of the singlet state of Pe; Pe*, the charge-separated state; NI⋅-Pe⋅, and the triplet state of Pe; Pe*.
