Methods: this is a theoretical study that used concept analysis, statement synthesis and derivation. It combined theoretical deduction strategies with induction, based on literature review and concept analysis.

Cannabis legalization and increasing cannabis use in the United States: Data from urine toxicology testing in emergency room patients.

Study Objectives: Rates of cannabis use disorder (CUD) appear to be increasing nationally, with increases greater in states that legalized cannabis use. However, as legalization has progressed and stigma declined, some of these apparent increases could be due to greater willingness of survey respondents and patients to acknowledge cannabis involvement. Biological indicators of cannabis use overcome some concerns about trends denoted by self-report data whose validity is potentially changing over time.

Background: Kisspeptin is a critical endogenous activator of the reproductive system, with escalating clinical interest as a novel therapeutic for common reproductive and psychosexual disorders. However, conflicting animal data suggest that kisspeptin can have anxiolytic, neutral, or anxiogenic effects. Given the rapid development of kisspeptin-based therapeutics, it is important to comprehensively investigate kisspeptin's effects on anxiety in humans.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is characterized by an abrupt decline in kidney function and has been associated with excess risks of death, kidney disease progression, and cardiovascular events. The kidney has a high energetic demand with mitochondrial health being essential to renal function, and damaged mitochondria have been reported across AKI subtypes. 5' Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation preserves cellular energetics through improvement of mitochondrial function and biogenesis when ATP levels are low, such as under ischemia-induced AKI.
