Longitudinal Outcomes of a Resident Academic Administrator, Clinician Educator Track.

Objective: As clinician educator tracks continue to gain popularity in graduate medical education, this report aims to fill a gap in the literature by providing a 14-year update on professional outcomes of participants in a psychiatry residency academic administrator, clinician educator (AACE) track and to compare these outcomes to non-track participants.

Methods: An anonymous web-based survey querying professional achievements was distributed to all graduates of a psychiatry residency training program from 2009 to 2022. Outcomes of AACE track participants and non-track participants were compared.

Matching arousal level to the motor activity of an animal is important for efficiently allocating cognitive resources and metabolic supply in response to behavioral demands, but how the brain coordinates changes in arousal and wakefulness in response to motor activity remains an unclear phenomenon. We hypothesized that the locus coeruleus (LC), as the primary source of cortical norepinephrine (NE) and promoter of cortical and sympathetic arousal, is well-positioned to mediate movement-arousal coupling. Here, using a combination of physiological recordings, fiber photometry, optogenetics, and behavioral tracking, we show that the LC activation is tightly coupled to the return of organized movements during waking from an anesthetized state.

Darwin attributed the absence of species transitions in the fossil record to his hypothesis that speciation occurs within isolated habitat patches too geographically restricted to be captured by fossil sequences. Mayr's peripatric speciation model added that such speciation would be rapid, further explaining missing evidence of diversification. Indeed, Eldredge and Gould's original punctuated equilibrium model combined Darwin's conjecture, Mayr's model and 124 years of unsuccessfully sampling the fossil record for transitions.

Pharmacokinetics Profiler (PhaKinPro): Model Development, Validation, and Implementation as a Web Tool for Triaging Compounds with Undesired Pharmacokinetics Profiles.

Computational models that predict pharmacokinetic properties are critical to deprioritize drug candidates that emerge as hits in high-throughput screening campaigns. We collected, curated, and integrated a database of compounds tested in 12 major end points comprising over 10,000 unique molecules. We then employed these data to build and validate binary quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models.

Assessment of Brief Online Approaches for Teaching Neuroscience in Psychiatry.

Objective: The goal of this study was to assess an online collection of brief educational resources (videos, case studies, articles) for teaching a broad range of concepts relating to neuroscience in psychiatry.

Methods: A national sample of 52 psychiatrists enrolled in the study. Forty (77%) completed an assessment before and after having access to the educational resources for 4 weeks.
