Introduction: Multicenter research initiatives in Brazilian dialysis centers are scarce. We described the recruitment and implementation phases of the SARC-HD study, aimed at investigating sarcopenia and its impact on adverse clinical outcomes.
Methods: The SARC-HD is a cohort study being conducted with patients on hemodialysis in Brazil.

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of adding mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MI-E) to a weaning protocol for tracheostomized patients undergoing prolonged mechanical ventilation (MV).
Design: Single-center, open-label, randomized, controlled pilot and feasibility study.
Setting: Intensive care unit in Brazil.
Objectives: Here, we investigated the effects of hyperventilation on acute lung injury (ALI) in spontaneously breathing rats.
Methods: Wistar rats were randomized to receive either intraperitoneal lipopolysaccharides (LPS) or saline, and intravenous infusion of NH4Cl (to induce metabolic acidosis and hyperventilation) or saline. Four groups were established: control-control (C-C), control-hyperventilation (C-HV), LPS-control (LPS-C), and LPS-hyperventilation (LPS-HV).

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate association of accelerometry data with physical activity levels (PAL) measured by three questionnaires and to investigate their ability to discriminate physically inactive from active patients on hemodialysis.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. PAL were assessed by accelerometry and questionnaires: Human Activity Profile (HAP), International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36).
