Background: The 2023 American College of Rheumatology and modified Sapporo criteria for antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) recommend ELISA to detect anticardiolipin (aCL) and anti-β2-glycoprotein I (aβ2GP1) IgG/IgM antibodies, focusing on moderate to high levels or exceeding the 99th percentile. This study aims to establish the 99th percentile threshold for anti-phospholipid (aPL) antibodies and compare the diagnostic accuracies of these thresholds with manufacturer cutoffs using 2 methodologies.

Methods: The 99th percentile cutoffs for aPL antibodies from 305 healthy donors were established using Aptiva, Particle-Based Multi-Analyte Technology (PMAT), and QUANTA Lite (QL) ELISA, following nonparametric reference interval estimation.

Currently, there are limited therapeutic options for patients with non-active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. Therefore, real-world studies have investigated differences between patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, non-active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis and active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. Here, we explore patterns and predictors of transitioning between these phenotypes.

Background: Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) comprises a group of rare, severe neuroinflammatory conditions. Current biomarkers of neuroinflammation are often normal in AE which therefore can be difficult to rule out in patients with seizures, cognitive and/or neuropsychiatric symptoms. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) soluble CD27 (sCD27) and soluble B-cell maturation antigen (sBCMA) have high sensitivity for neuroinflammation in other neuroinflammatory conditions.

Background: Cisplatin-based chemoradiation is a standard treatment for many patients with human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC), an etiologically distinct subset of head and neck cancer. Although associated with good long-term survival, clinical risk factors for ototoxicity have been understudied in this population. This study aimed to evaluate clinical predictors associated with ototoxicity in HPV-positive OPSCC patients treated with cisplatin chemoradiation.

Background: Diagnosing Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) relies heavily on laboratory findings, particularly the detection of specific antibodies like lupus anticoagulant (LA), IgG and/or IgM anti-cardiolipin (aCL), and IgG and/or IgM anti-β2 glycoprotein 1 (aB2GP1). Although ELISA is widely used in the US for this purpose, standardization between different assay methodologies remains challenging, leading to significant variability across laboratories. Particle-based multi-analyte technology (PMAT) offers a streamlined one-step detection for all six antiphospholipid (aPL) autoantibodies, covering aCL and aB2GP1 of IgA, IgG, and IgM isotypes.
