Implantation of a mitral allograft into the tricuspid valve position in active infective endocarditis.

In cases of severe and recurrent infectious lesions affecting the right heart, one alternative option for bioprosthetic intervention is the implantation of a mitral allograft (a donor heart valve) in the position of the tricuspid valve. We present a clinical case detailing the successful implantation of a fresh mitral allograft into the tricuspid position in a 37-year-old male patient diagnosed with active infective endocarditis of the tricuspid valve and a high risk of prosthetic endocarditis. The mitral allograft was anatomically implanted with annuloplasty using an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene band.

[The surgical results in malignant bladder tumors using the Scalpel-1 carbon-dioxide laser].

The authors present long-term results of surgical treatment with the use of CO2 laser of 104 patients suffering from bladder cancer stage T1-4 of different location. It is shown that high antiblastic effect of laser radiation results in reduced number of cancer recurrences, postoperative complications and lethal outcomes. Laser resection of the bladder wall with the tumor as deep as adventitious layer and paravesical fat ensures preservation of the organ on the one side and efficiency of surgery on the other side.

[The surgical treatment of oleogranulema of the external genitalia in men using the CO2 laser].

The paper presents the data on surgical management of 61 patients with external genital paraffinomas induced by subcutaneous administration of liquid vaseline into the penis. In most patients the disease was complicated by formation of fistulas, ulcers and necrosis of the skin. During surgical therapy, 43 patients were given CO2 laser, 18 received conventional surgical methods.
