Epidermal melanocytes form synaptic-like contacts with cutaneous nerve fibers, but the functional outcome of these connections remains elusive. In this pilot study we used our fully humanized re-innervated skin organ culture model to investigate melanocyte-nerve fiber interactions in UV-B-induced melanogenesis. UV-B-irradiation significantly enhanced melanin content and tyrosinase activity in re-innervated skin compared to non-innervated controls, indicating that neuronal presence is essential for exacerbating pigmentation upon UV-B irradiation in long-term culture.

Background: Traumatic childbirth can lead to childbirth-related posttraumatic stress symptoms (CB-PTSS). Although underexplored, prenatal couple relationship satisfaction and romantic attachment orientations are modifiable factors that may increase or mitigate the risk of CB-PTSS after a traumatic childbirth experience.

Objectives: This study examined (1) the associations between prenatal couple relationship satisfaction and romantic attachment, traumatic childbirth and CB-PTSS; (2) whether prenatal couple relationship satisfaction moderates the association between traumatic childbirth and CB-PTSS; and (3) whether the interaction between prenatal couple relationship satisfaction and romantic attachment moderates the association between traumatic childbirth and CB-PTSS.

Background: Effects of subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) on neuropsychiatric symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD) remain debated. Sensor technology might help to objectively assess behavioural changes after STN-DBS.

Case Presentation: 5 PD patients were assessed 1 before and 5 months after STN-DBS with the Movement Disorders Society Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part III in the medication ON (plus postoperatively stimulation ON) condition, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, the Questionnaire for Impulsive-Compulsive Behaviors in Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale present version, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and the Starkstein Apathy Scale.

Background: The standardisation and correction of taxonomic names in large biodiversity databases remain persistent challenges for researchers, as errors in species names can compromise ecological analyses, land-use planning and conservation efforts, particularly when inaccurate data are shared on global biodiversity portals.

New Information: We present pytaxon, a Python software designed to resolve and correct taxonomic names in biodiversity data by leveraging the Global Names Verifier (GNV) API and employing fuzzy matching techniques to suggest corrections for discrepancies and nomenclatural inconsistencies. The pytaxon offers both a Command Line Interface (CLI) and a Graphical User Interface (GUI), ensuring accessibility to users with different levels of computing expertise.

Assessing Fear of Birth Scale's (FOBS) psychometric properties in the perinatal period using multicountry data is a step toward effectively screen clinically significant fear of childbirth (FOC) in maternal healthcare settings. FOBS psychometric properties were analyzed in women in the perinatal period using data from Australia, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, and Portugal. FOBS' reliability, criterion (known group and convergent), concurrent, predictive, and clinical validity were analyzed.
