This work attempts to find the reasons for the rather limited range of occurrence of in Poland, based on soil properties, which affects both the plant cover and the entomofauna. The aim of the study was to assess the influence of soil enzyme activity on the occurrence of in xerothermic grasslands in Southern Poland. The sites inhabited by the beetle were most often extensively grazed by farm animals or had recently been cleared of bushes.

On April 28, 2023, the University of California Office of the President, in partnership with the California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC), hosted the California Cannabis Research Briefing. The California Cannabis Research Briefing brought together researchers and state agencies/policymakers to discuss pertinent policy issues on cannabis within the state. Researchers across six different topic areas (environment, cannabis markets, social equity matters, public health, medicinal cannabis use, and public safety) provided brief explanations of their research and its policy implications.

Riboswitches are messenger RNA (mRNA) fragments binding specific small molecules to regulate gene expression. A synthetic N1 riboswitch, inserted into yeast mRNA controls the translation of a reporter gene in response to neomycin. However, its regulatory activity is sensitive to single-point RNA mutations, even those distant from the neomycin binding site.

Background: Low-dose CT (LDCT) is underused in Arkansas for lung cancer screening, a rural state with a high incidence of lung cancer. The objective was to determine whether offering free LDCT increased the number of high-risk individuals screened in a rural catchment area.

Methods: There were 5,402 patients enrolled in screening at Highlands Oncology, a community oncology clinic in Northwest Arkansas, from 2013 to 2020.

Transcription reprogramming during cell differentiation involves targeting enhancers to genes responsible for establishment of cell fates. To understand the contribution of CTCF-mediated chromatin organization to cell lineage commitment, we analyzed 3D chromatin architecture during the differentiation of human embryonic stem cells into pancreatic islet organoids. We find that CTCF loops are formed and disassembled at different stages of the differentiation process by either recruitment of CTCF to new anchor sites or use of pre-existing sites not previously involved in loop formation.
