Illness perceptions (IPs) and avoidance behavior both predict quality of life (QoL) in people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This study examined whether the effects of IPs on QoL are mediated by avoidance behaviors, and whether this mediation is moderated by participant treatment-seeking status. People with self-reported IBS ( = 253) answered a survey assessing QoL, IPs, avoidance behaviors, and treatment-seeking status.

In this randomized double-blind study, 40 patients were examined with iohexol and 40 patients with ioxaglate. Adverse events were evaluated by recording the time of onset and the duration of possible adverse events: during or immediately following the contrast medium injections, after 6 h, and after 24 h following these injections.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFSurface IgG expression of 29 cases of hairy cell leukemia (HCL) was assessed using IgG-subclass-specific monoclonal and F(ab)'2 polyclonal antibodies. A marked preference for the IgG3 subclass was found, as 16 of 19 IgG-positive HCL's expressed IgG3. In 10 cases, IgG3 was concurrently expressed with other heavy chains.
