The patient's perspective on the burden of psoriasis: findings based on the ROCQ, an online survey.

Psoriasis is a common chronic skin disease, with well-characterised impact on quality-of life, however, no information is available on the lifetime impact of psoriasis on patients' lives. This descriptive cross-sectional web-based survey of patients with psoriasis, recruited from an online patient community, was conducted in France in 2021. Established questionnaires (Major Life-Changing Decision Profile-MLCDP, Dermatology Life Quality Index-DLQI, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale [HADS]), CAGE and BRIEF-COPE) were administered together with specially created questions.

[Polycystic kidney disease: An analysis of e-patients exchanges in the public blogosphere].

The goal this study was to understand the preoccupations of e-patients with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD), through their discussions on social networks, and to compare them with those of members of a specialized association. We collected and analyzed all messages containing an unequivocal expression of the pathology (polycystic kidney disease, PKD, ADPKD, etc.) available on public forums on the French Internet and all french-language messages posted on the forum of the patient group Association Polykystose-France (PKD-France) during 2 years.

Closing the gap between centralized and decentralized compound management approaches.

The demand for organized storage concepts to maintain, collect and distribute compounds has grown not only at pharmaceutical companies, but also at smaller research organizations and academic laboratories where there is the demand to store and retrieve substances systematically. However, budget limitations have prevented these smaller groups from buying costly storage systems offered by specialized commercial vendors. On the other hand, within pharmaceutical companies a need for inexpensive and flexible storage concepts has developed and complements the existing automated archives.

Screening library evolution through automation of solution preparation.

The quality of the compound library is a critical success factor in every high-throughput screening campaign. Screening solutions have to be prepared with a high level of process control to ensure the correct identity and initial concentration of each compound. However, even under optimized storage conditions, a certain level of degradation in solution cannot be avoided.

Compound Hub: efficiency gains through innovative sample management processes.

While significant investments are made across the industry and increasingly also in academia to enhance or build a compound file, the efficient sourcing of compounds from in-house medical chemistry is frequently seen as a challenge. This article introduces the Compound Hub strategy developed at the Novartis Compound Archive. Central Compound Hubs in Basel and Cambridge were combined with web-based ordering of compounds and assays, providing assay-ready, solubilized samples to labs anywhere in the global research organization.
