Biomarkers of success of anti-PD-(L)1 immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer derived from RNA- and whole-exome sequencing: results of a prospective observational study on a cohort of 85 patients.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) treatment have shown high efficacy for about 15 cancer types. However, this therapy is only effective in 20-30% of cancer patients. Thus, the precise biomarkers of ICI response are an urgent need.

[Cytogenetic status of patients with cancer of the gastrointestinal tract before and after treatment].

Aim of this study was to analyze the karyological indicators in exfoliated cells in patients with cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. There was revealed statistically significant (p < 0.01) increase of all parameters in buccal and nasal epithelium in such kind of patients compared to healthy persons.

[Karyological and immunological parameters in children under conditions of varying ambient air pollution].

The cytological status, proliferation, and apoptosis of the buccal epithelium and the level of secretory immunoglobulin A were studied in 90 children living in a large ferrous metallurgy center (Tula). There were increases in the degree of cytogenetic impairments, a change in cell kinetic processes, and a reduction in local immunity in children in a more polluted area. There was a high significant correlation of karyological and immunological parameters with some chemical ambient air pollutants.

[Use of morphofunctional and cytogenetic studies to analyze the influence of environmental factors].

Long-term studies of 2 (cytohistology and genetic monitoring) laboratories of the Research Institute of Human Ecology and Environmental Hygiene, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, to investigate the influence of environmental factors in the experiments made it possible to develop a noninvasive procedure for evaluating their cytological and cytogenetic impacts on man. A concurrent study of morphofunctional (histological, cytological) and cytogenetic parameters in both experimental and field trials can substantially extend and refine the interpretation of responses to environmental factors, which generates a need for using these parameters in hygienic and epidemiological studies.
